AKRON, OHIO (Sept. 1, 2016) – On Wednesday, Sept. 7, The University of Akron EX[L] Center Founding Director Jeff Hoffman will welcome special guests WhiteSpace President/CEO Keeven White and Akron Mayor Dan Horrigan as they kick off a community discussion on "Investing in Akron as a Global HQ: Homegrown Strategy of Scale."
"As a small business owner who’s deeply invested in the Akron community, it’s an honor to share the stage with Mayor Horrigan,” says White. “I’m looking forward to discussing the many opportunities – especially in regard to culture and amenities – that have been growing leaps and bounds throughout this area.”
BLUprints to EX[L] is a free networking event, sponsored by JumpStart and UARF, that brings together innovators, entrepreneurs and big thinkers. The monthly program is committed to raising awareness and insight into topics that change-makers regularly face. Subjects vary from challenges in starting a new venture to new ways to approach scaling ideas or assessing emerging opportunities. Its goal is to tackle concepts that can be applicable across industries and cultures.
At each session, Hoffman introduces the topic and welcomes a small panel of innovators, typically one in the technology space and one in a sector not fundamentally reliant on the hard sciences. After each guest shares his/her experiences, the panel transitions into an open forum, taking questions from the audience.
The event is open to the public at no charge. Free appetizers and soft drinks, as well as a cash bar, will be available. The first 25 to arrive also receive a copy of Hoffman's most recent book, Scale. To register, click here.
Presented by The University of Akron Experiential Learning Center for Entrepreneurship & Civic Engagement (EX[L] Center), BLUprints is held the first Wednesday of every month at 5:30 p.m. BLU Jazz+ is located below 3-Point at 47 E. Market St. in downtown Akron. To learn more, visit uakron.edu/exl/bluprints.dot
