Today marks the beginning of the Chinese New Year – the Year of the Rabbit (for the Vietnamese community, it’s the Year of the Cat). Celebrations typically last more than two weeks and may include parades, parties, festivals or possibly just a Tsing Tao served by Chai at Golden Dragon in Cuyahoga Falls, OH.

At WhiteSpace, the exploration of Chinese New Year began last summer (possibly at Golden Dragon or House of Hunan) as we developed the concept and design for the XPEDX Fall Paper Preview, one of the creative/advertising industry’s most anticipated and fun annual events. The Paper Preview celebrated the Year of the Tiger and the design featured Neenah Classic Linen, Red Pepper paper with gold metallic ink. It was our first time designing for this popular event and we were excited to participate!

Depending on the source, the Year of the Rabbit is associated with prosperity, luck, tranquility, and harmony. And, individuals born under one of the most fortunate of twelve Chinese Zodiac signs are said to be (an abbreviated list follows): articulate, talented, ambitious, strong-willed, wise, a bit introverted and financially lucky.
If you happen to visit Chai during your celebration of the Chinese New Year, tell ‘em Frank (Year of the Rooster) sent you!
