Facility Maintenance

Overall Description
A WhiteSpace Facility Maintenance worker performs a variety of general/preventative duties in the continual maintenance of the WhiteSpace property. He or she acts as the primary contact for any building issues (climate control, odors, smoke, spills, damage, emergencies and repairs) and helps determine when a professional is required. Responsibilities include cleaning, painting, and repair work to interior and exterior of building, as well as maintaining grounds and walks. The Facility Maintenance role involves moderate to heavy work in all types of weather, and the use of hand tools and power tools in making maintenance repairs. The Facility Maintenance worker reports to the President/CEO.

Responsibilities (include, but are not limited to)
• Troubleshoots minor maintenance problems involving electrical, structural, plumbing, and equipment repair or replacement
• Performs preventive building maintenance duties, such as hanging pictures and shelving, caulking windows and doors, and patching walls
• Performs routine plumbing repairs such as clogged drains and water leaks
• Performs routine electrical repairs such as changing bulbs and fixing faulty switches
• Purchases supplies, equipment and materials necessary to complete projects
• Monitors contractor performance and works closely with outside vendors and contractors to ensure work is completed according to specifications
• Assembles, moves and sets up/tears down new and existing desks, chairs, tables and equipment
• Cares for trees, lawns, and shrubbery and removes snow and ice from entrances and walkways
• Picks up and delivers company supplies, materials and equipment as needed
• Helps ensure proper service of security, maintenance, cleaning, and waste disposal and recycling
• Helps identify and pursue cost-savings opportunities for required maintenance services and utilities
• Assists supervisor in preparing the annual maintenance budget
• Commits to active role in company’s pro-bono and community efforts

Qualifying Requirements
• Reliable with a keen eye for detail
• Proven success in a similar position
• Basic knowledge of HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems (preferred)
• Experience using hand and electrical tools
• Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 100 lb
• Physical stamina and dexterity
• Ability to read technical manuals and drawings
• Solid communication and interpersonal skills
• Valid Ohio driver's license and acceptable driving record
• High school diploma or equivalent

• Full time, 40 hours/week
• Monday – Friday, 8:30 am – 5:30 pm
• Weekend or evening hours only under special circumstances

$12 to $15 an hour
