WhiteSpace Wins Regional ADDY® Award for Online Holiday Self Promotion
WhiteSpace Creative, an Akron-based integrated marketing resource firm, was recently awarded a Silver ADDY® for its online ornament maker at the 2010 Fifth District ADDY competition.
The award-winning project, which won a Judge's Choice Award at the local level, consisted of a holiday greeting/self promotion that was posted on the company’s website during the holiday season. For every ornament created, WhiteSpace vowed to donate one dollar (up to $1,000 by December 25, 2009) toward fighting hunger in the Akron community. As a result of the ornament maker's popularity, WhiteSpace proudly presented Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank President Dan Flowers with a $1,000 check earlier this year.
The Fifth District ADDY competition is the regional, or second, tier of the national American Advertising Federation ADDY awards competition honoring excellence in the advertising industry. All local AAF-Akron gold winners were automatically forwarded to the regional competition, where they were judged against winners from Kentucky, Ohio and West Virginia advertising clubs.
The three judges, by rule not from the district, included Eric Holmon, Associate Creative Director at the Smith Brothers Agency in Pittsburg, John Ashton, Interactive Art Director with the Anstey Hodge Agency in Roanoke, and Jamie Conner, Senior Graphic Designer with KCM Advertising in Charlottesville, Virginia. They judged over 465 entries in more than 75 categories from 10 cities in the three-state area. AAF West Virginia served as the host club and the Charleston Civic Center provided the judging facilities.
